Cross the Atlantic on a French Wine Cruise
No longer will you attend wine mixers and have another discussion on where your wine came from. Now you can discuss how your wine arrived. Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte has acquired the services of the 106 year-old British ketch Betsy Ellen ($TBD), a west country trading ship built in 1904, to carry 20,000 bottles of Smith Haut Lafitte and bottles cross Atlantic from the Bordeaux, France to Montreal, CA. Even though the 25-day sail-powered crossing will cost around 20 percent more, the added benefit is that the long ocean voyage will hasten the aging process and improve the wine.
